Many designers opt to do trunk shows rather than fashion shows. At a trunk show, the designer/company has their new collection on display for buyers to look through. The buyers can place orders right then and there for what they like and want to sell for the next season.
My roommate is an intern at Shoshanna, so she was actually working their trunk show at ENK International Fashion Coterie. She was able to observe her superiors' relationships with buyers, fill orders, and learn more about the inner workings of the fashion industry.
I was able to volunteer for Coterie last season and it was very cool seeing designers setting up and selling their clothes. Good choice!
